Who is the cornerstone of the church

As the Chief Cornerstone, Jesus ensures the stability of the whole system of our salvation. Jesus was and is the only plan of salvation. Isaiah , "Therefore this says the Lord God: 'Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation.

Jesus is also called the stumbling stone. Psalm calls Christ "the stone which the builders rejected," describing the Jews attempt to build their house but leaving out the stone who was Jesus Christ. Matthew , "Jesus said to them: 'Have you never read in the Scriptures: The stone which the builders rejected has become the Chief Cornerstone, this was the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?

Jesus came to His own, and instead of embracing Him, they stumbled over Him and ultimately nailed Him to the cross. Jesus also is called the Smitten Stone. In Exodus 17, we read of Moses striking a rock, which brings forth water. We hold that the scriptures are infallible and inerrant in the original manuscripts. They are the unique, full and final authority on all matters of faith and practice, and there are no other writings similarly inspired by God.

God We believe there is One true, holy God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit — each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of deity and the characteristics of personality.

In the beginning God created out of nothing the world and all things therein, thus manifesting the glory of His power, wisdom and goodness.

By His sovereign power He continues to sustain His creation. By His providence He is operating throughout history to fulfill His redemptive purposes. Salvation The central purpose of God's revelation in Scripture is to call all people into fellowship with Himself. Originally created to have fellowship with God, man defied God, choosing to go his independent way and was thus alienated from and suffered the corruption of his nature, rendering him unable to please God.

The fall took place at the beginning of human history and all individuals since have suffered these consequences, are born sinful by nature and are thus in need of the saving grace of God. The salvation of humankind is, then, wholly a work of God's free grace, not the result, in whole or in part, of human works or goodness and personally appropriated by repentance and faith.

When God has begun a saving work in the heart of any person, He gives assurance in His Word that He will continue performing it until the day of its full consummation. We believe there is one and only one living and true God, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. We believe in Jesus Christ. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and personal, visible return in glory to judge the earth.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, coeternal with the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit inspired the Scripture, convicts of sin, calls people to salvation, transforms us to holiness and gifts the Body of Christ for service. All of mankind has rebelled against God and is condemned to eternal death. One day Jesus will return to make all things new and all who know Jesus will be raised to life.

We believe in the universal church as the Body of Christ, including believers from every tribe, tongue, people and nation. We believe in the local church, consisting of a local family of believers, associated by covenant in the faith, seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth.
