Many have cryptic colouration and structural modifications that help them blend in with their surroundings. They also tend to spend a lot of their time motionless with their forelegs outstretched awaiting prey. They have good vision and their head often turns to face moving objects.

They are weak fliers usually flying in short bursts. They are predators, eating mostly insects but have been known to eat small vertebrates. They are active during the day and night. What looks similar? Mantis Flies are often confused with praying mantids as they also have raptorial forelegs. Mantid flies can be distinguished by their wings, which unlike mantids, are always present. The wings of mantis flies are clear, held tent-like over their body at rest , and possess forked veins along the wing margin.

The camouflage makes it easy for a mantis to hunt its prey. The typical lifespan of a praying mantis is six months, which can extend to a year. This stage occurs just before winter. The adult female praying mantis lays to eggs after fertilization. The eggs are laid safely on a firm leaf or stem with a liquid that hardens to be a protective sac structure known as ootheca. The ootheca is a protective casing very hard and able to survive extreme weather changes in which the eggs will stay throughout the winter.

In mid-spring when the temperatures are warm, the nymphs will hatch when the egg cases crack. Initially, the hatched nymphs stay around the egg casing for a while. It's during this period that the mantis try to feed on each other. It is advisable to use a large cage for the mating and feeding them well beforehand is essential otherwise the female will eat the male. Mating may occur immediately or it may take the male a day or so to make his approach.

Mating may last a day or more so it is a good idea to keep the cage supplied with food so the female can eat while mating. The male should be removed as soon as mating has finished. The eggs are produced in an eggcase called an ootheca this may produce 30 to young mantids depending on the species. The ootheca is a frothy mass created by the female, the froth hardens to form a tough case for the eggs. Hatching usually takes between 3 and 6 months.

The young may hatch all at once or in batches over a period of several weeks. The ootheca should be suspended at least 5cm above the floor of the cage. When the young hatch they hang by a thread from the ootheca until their skin hardens off. The female will eat a lot and become very fat before laying an ootheca on a branch or side of the container if she is already fat she may well lay her first ootheca the day after mating. She will lay several oothecae, usually about six, but only needs to be mated once.

The young nymphs can be housed together for a time but the cage must be very large with plenty of hiding places and an excess of live food must be provided to prevent cannibalism. The mantids should be housed separately after the second or third moult.

If you live in a location where mantids occur naturally you may find mantis oothecas see the photograph on our Mantodea page in the wild.

The nest provides both shelter from extremes of desert temperatures and protection from predators by using cactus pads and cactus spines in the construction.

Such construction methods help keep the nest much cooler than the surrounding desert floor in summer, while helping retain the animals' body heat in winter. The nests of desert-dwelling woodrats, often built in and of cholla and beavertail cactus, are usually impregnable to predators, except for the badger or gila monster thanks Jerrold J.

Feldner - see comment below. The woodrat is most vulnerable when out foraging for food, at which times a coyote, fox, snake or owl may prey upon it. Primarily nocturnal and vegetarian, desert woodrats survive on a diet of spiny cactus, yucca pods, bark, berries, pinyon nuts, seeds and any available green vegetation. They rely on succulent plants for their water, since they do not have the refined metabolic and water conservation capabilities of pocket mice or kangaroo rats.

They are one of the few animals that can navigate with impunity between cactus spines to feed on the juicy pads. The reproductive habits of rodents are extremely variable in the wild and can become even more so when domesticated.

Most are born naked and helpless and are cared for in nests. Some desert female woodrats have been known to deliver up to five litters per year with as many as five young per litter. The young may open their eyes at days and are usually weaned between 14 and 42 days. Most become sexually mature after 60 days. If the litter is especially large, the mother woodrat may die after weaning.

Most rodents are polygamous and some mate for the duration of a single breeding season. Pack rats give birth to much smaller litters than other rats, producing only two or three offspring at a time, so in theory an infestation should be more manageable. However, they live much longer than other rats, with an average lifespan of about three years, so can stick around. Resolving your pest problem is our 1 priority. They offer to take him out to dinner. They compliment his clothes and his hair and his facial structure. They send clear signals about when they want to be kissed. They initiate sex. And you know what?

It works. Most of these women wound up in happy, fulfilling relationships. Sometimes the woman needs to go talk to the shy-looking guy in the corner. He has more to offer than it looks at first. If you want to talk to someone, then go talk to them.

Ask them on a date. Stop worrying about who does what. Immature people torture their partners with invisible rules and expectations. Then they start dating around or hooking up with strangers.

Smart men hate this. They have lives. They have things they care about. They just give their attention to people who treat them well. So smart, mature women do their best to say what they think. They communicate their needs and desires — at least eventually.

They define the status of the relationship early on. They send clear signals, and convey their interest. Intelligent men have a sense of humor. They can laugh at themselves, and at tough situations. They want more than a woman who pretends to laugh at their bad jokes. They would rather you just be honest with them. They want a woman who can make them laugh. They want a woman to go to standup comedy shows with them.

Being a character in a book or a film means you have a story. Having character in real life means the same thing. Mediocre dates are full of people just answering questions.

Tell a story. Show them your character. Like most of the advice here, this also applies to guys. It could be a career, a side hustle, a screenplay, an art studio, or just taking care of a sick family member. That said, with scientists having spent decades trying to work out the key to why we fall in love, there are certain things you should look for in a potential suitor which suggest you may have found a keeper.

With the advent of dating apps meaning another love interest is never more than a right swipe away, it can be hard to commit. So if you're wondering whether to settle down with your current partner, it might be worth taking a step back and asking yourself whether he ticks the boxes below. While some of us are naturally brainier than others, a new study from the Hanken School of Economics in Finland suggests that the smarter the man, the less likely he is to be unfaithful.

According to the research, more intelligent men are more likely to get married and stay married. Even when the women in the study described their husbands as supportive, they also revealed that the men refused to change their own work schedules or offer to help more with looking after children.

In fact, a recent study found that young men get more satisfaction out of their bromances than their romantic relationships with women. While this is clearly ludicrous, maintaining your friendships is important. If stereotypes are to be believed, it is women who are always desperate to talk about feelings and never men who fall hard. They can exit a dating relationship or a marriage in favor of concentrating on their careers.

They do not necessarily need another person in their lives in order to climb the socio-economic ladder. Of course, this call option is not free. A rational dater will discount the value of a potential mate based on the value of the option. When it comes to men dating women, this means that intelligent women need to be discounted for their inherent call option. The answer must either be that less intelligent men are unwilling to date more intelligent women or more intelligent women are unwilling to date less intelligent men.

Or both. Whatever the answer is, it is creating an unmet arbitrage opportunity—an overabundance of intelligent, single women and an over-abundance of less intelligent, single men. This is evidence that what men and women look for in a mate diverges. Women apparently value intelligence in a mate—or perhaps the socio-economic rewards for intelligence—more than men do.

If you have a dog that poops outside, you can expect crows to gather and eat its poop. Crows that live in America eat definitely eat fish. Crows also like to store their food. They will store fish for when they are hungry again.

Crows are omnivores so they will eat insects and also plants. Crows eat numerous kinds of insects. Crows can and do eat mosquitoes if they get the opportunity to do so.

Crows , despite being loud and boisterous, for bird brains, are considered one of the most intelligent animals in the world. They are famed for their adaptability and are even known, like human beings, to use common sense. They belong to the genus Corvus along with ravens and rooks and the family Corvidae , which compromises other birds such as magpies, nutcrackers, and jays.

There exist about 40 different species of crows that vary in size, ranging from inches cm long. The fish crow measures about 19 inches 48 cm long, while the American crow measures about Some of the most common crow species include:. A lot of crows are reclusive, although they often scout for food in groups. An adult needs 11 ounces of food daily for sustenance. During nesting season, they gather in large numbers to roost and protect themselves from predators.

They can eat up to 40, grubs a day, including; armyworms, caterpillars, and other insects considered pests. Some detective work is done. Once the crime is solved, they act together to chase the predator away in a behavior known as mobbing. And they will! However, not everything the crows will eat is healthy for them. This is a list of things to feed, how delicious they are for crows and what to avoid. My crow family particularly likes the almonds but I heard shelled peanuts are a favourite amongst many crows aswell.

Feeding ham or sausage is fine in moderation, it does contain a lot of salt tho which can be harmful for the birds same goes for cheese btw. A better alternative would be cutting small pieces nut sized of fresh, unseasoned meat from the butcher and either giving it to them raw or cooking it beforehand.

While it is true that crows can eat roadkill or eat straight out of a dumbster I would still advise against feeding spoiled meat.. You miss the big picture worrying too much about your own self from your extremely limited and biased point of view and fail to appreciate your place in and amongst the cosmos as a whole. They would certainly be far more justified in doing so, but being the noble creatures they are they hold no grudge, cast no blame about, and allow us to carry on being the oblivious and destructive beings we naturally are.

Crows are my friends. I like crows and like three people. Thank you so much for the original post on what they like to eat. Crows are super intelligent, humorous and take care of each other. There is nothing that has matched the joy that numerous species have given me. One of the greatest gifts of my life. Why is this site encouraging the feeding of wild animals.

If I have something in my hand its worse, if I have food in my hand I am nearly attacked until I get rid of it. I just read that if you are feeding at-dog pellets you must soak them as crows can choke on dry food. I wonder if it is true and if so can you include that in this section because people should know that. To all crow lovers I highly recommend you read the novel Hollow Kingdom!

The hero is a crow named S. Thank you so much for this article! I was looking for some ideas of foods they would like for me to leave for them, so this is very helpful. Thank you! I live in Champlin, MN and have noticed a huge surge in the Crow population in my neighborhood.

What are the advantages of helping them out? Befriending them? If I start feeding them, setting out bird baths, etc, what would I accomplish? Piss off the neighbors by bringing in hoards of Crows? Please advise your recommendations. Hi Mike! I am in Minnetonka. I started feeding crows dog food pellets last year when the schools across the street from me shut down. I also provide a dish basin of fresh water not in the winter.

A small group of birds visit me once or twice a day. Sometimes they eat- and sometimes they only stop by to say hello. They are less of a nuisance than the geese at the school. During the pandemic they have made my days brighter. Had a crow feed in my dry composting area. Decided to leave a bowl of the better stuff in it.

Fed it for 5 months, but it never gave me anything back. Stopped doing the bowl thing. However, 2 months on it started leaving corn cobs as payment.

Now, we are back to the bowls. Within 2 min the bird flew to the edge of the garbage can, jumped across the can, jumped on the ground walked around the can jumped up on can edge, back to ground, jumped yo edge teetered then went for the bait. Young pulled the string and bam! My next meal…….. When I held the bird in my hands we tied the string used to trap the food theif to its ankle and let it go……..

I never wanted to kill the bird just teach it a lesson. Me too Sarah.

Catalytic converters have been around since the 19th century when metal cylinders containing filters coated in platinum, Iridium and palladium were fitted to early French motor cars in an attempt to clean up the smoke coming out of their exhausts. The technology was first patented by Frenchman Eugene Houdry who relocated to Los Angeles in the s and founded a company called Oxy-Catalyst, which fitted catalytic converters to industrial chimneys to combat smog. Having already fitted his filters to warehouse forklift trucks, by the s Houdry had begun to research catalytic converter technology for use on cars and he secured a patent for his design in Today, the overwhelming majority of internal combustion engined cars on the road have a catalytic converter and there are various different kinds fitted to different models.

In the bed: I'm thank to God that I never not do mistake like this. This is 1st thing wich I remember about the Greek mens — working. Whatever they work, they work really hard all the time.

They care less about their vision than the mens from the other Balkan countries but they want to look good, by the way. Thing wich I not like in them is that one Greek is ready to make you sure that everything is born origin in Greece also when they wrong….

They like the tavern and enjoy all the time. In the bed: I'm not were there with Greek but many friends told me that they are nice. He feel ''alive'' when he is the boss. If you meet Bulgarian and he is not like this…be sure that he is not himself or just he is very good actor cause maybe think that you not like this. I'm shocked from the 1st day when we began to live together! Not all are like this.. I not like in one Bulgarian, thing like.. If you cheat him.. Some are very lazy and some work hard.

If you are the women wich one Bulgarian need can cook, can clean, beautiful, extremely gentle and warm and respect him — he will respect you as his princess and show you that you are the one for him and will do all possible to make you happy. For one Bulgarian… ''his is the best''.. They are very serious mens wich not like the games, specially when they want something big long.. They can be very gentle if you know what to say ;.

In the bed: Wild…no taboos. I'm matured women.. I have intensive contact with mens from 17 years old and I can tell you that only one Bulgarian dare to tell you what you to do with his….. They are very serious mens and try everything to be perfect. Their problem is that they like to talk about war many too.. Example is the autor of this tread who is lucky :. They also care about their vision as the Bulgarians and are very open-minded.

In the bed: They are like Croatians…something like this. And again I tell that all info is based on my expirience and the expirience of my closest friends… please get the things wrong as I made my sex tour around the Balkans :D.

Just trying to help you :. Oh Sasa!!! It was about her sex experiences…Her best sex experience had been with an Albanian from New York City. She had seen numerous blacks and whites, different sizes but the experience with the Albanian had been unforgettable. She said she was heartbroken because the Albanian guy got married with a girl from his country regardless the great, great sex.

English she said are horrible. And you Sasa have missed that part. They have the sweetest sex ever, unbeatable…. As for the rest I agree with you. Interesting post. I am a canadian woman and personally I have had a very bad experience with my Macedonan husband who I met in Toronto.

After experiencing the immense torture and physical and mental abuse ,I couldn't take it any lo ger and had to call the police on him.

After my experience with him I thought all Macedonian men were like that. But I was probably very clouded by my sufferings. After reading your article it's still hard for me to believe that there are some very nice Macedonians.

I know I shouldnt judge a whole country by one bad person. I respect the fact that Macedonians are very close to their families but my husband and his mothers behavior was the most unimaginable that anyone can think of.

Last year she came to visiti us for 6 months. I was shocked to see that she was behaving more like his wife than his mother. My husband left his job and stayed home to give company to his mother ,even though we had recently bought a house.

I was the one who was working while he stayed home giving comany to his mother for six months. All day the mother and son used to be together a d when I would come home at night and we had our dinner together and watched some tv,I would then expect his mom to go in her bedroom at 10 pm so I could have some alone time with my husband for at least an hour to our selves.

But she never moved from the couch till 2am at night. And then they would wake up in the morning and still be together smoking and drinking coffe for at least two hour in the valcony by themselves.

I just couldn't u derstand this behavior of the mother and son. I did talk to my husband about this and he said to me" she's my mother and she can do what she wants, and I will never tell her anything". I was more shoocked by his mothers behavior that he bei g a woman pretended to not understand my concerns.

When I spoke to her daughter in Macedinia about this on the phone, and she passed on the message about this to her mother, can you imagine what she did? She became even more worse than ever. Now a few months ago my husband told me that he wants to bring his mother to Canada and live with us for ever , and when I refused,he said to me " I can replace you anytime but my mother will always be my mother". And just to mention that we did have a cover satin before marriage and he asked me if I would be ok to live with his mother.

I had told him at that time that his mother would be welcome to come visit us for months in a year but I would not live with her forever. And now when I remind him of that he tells me"I don't know what you're talking about". Also his mother is a very healthy 60 year old woman and not that he needs to be taken care of. And not just that,I have always been the best I could ,worked outside and done all the do estic chores also only by myself.

My husband never helped me ith anything. He never respected me,was always screaming and yelling for no reason and was the most uncultured and uncivilized beast I've ever come across in my life.

They have name days and Birthdays and Nationalistic festivals normally celebrating victory or commemorating defeat at hands of Turks then you eat same food each and every time it is nice and generous food but same every time and you sit in the corner they all smile and talk but they never mention their problems or share their inner emotional world it seems to me to be dishonest in a way as they all have problems but dont share them with each other in an attempt to help each other it is weird just superficial 'ha ha happy clappy' when underneath they are all living their own personal hell.

Very unreconstructed and closed paradoxically. Also collectively they have been under Dictatorships for so long that they are mostly fearful men not at all courageous. And every other macedonian boy It's good to be appreciated!! Since when is Alexander the Great Skopjen? Aristotle was his teacher and ancient Greek scholars refused to educate non-Greeks or "barbarians" as foreigners were referred to back then.

Ancient Macedonia was a state of Ancient Greece. Skopjens are Slavs who came to the Balkans thousands of years after Alexander had died. Get your facts straight first. Apart from that my husband is Bulgarian and I love him a lot.

He is very caring and a great provider to the family. Dear Alexandra, the article is about Balkan men and personal experience, people here are commenting about the topic of the article and not about politics, please take the politics out of your comment and post them somewhere on the portals where these topics of your interest are discussed.

This is so funny! I am an English girl married to a Macedonian boy 3 years now and Macedonian men are true gentlemen! We visit Macedonia times per year and i love the culture, family values and the food ajvar. I cone from a typical broken family and question morals on England today do I feel lucky to have a traditional man and look forward to having our own children, he will be a fantastic dad! I hope I open his mind to fun! I loved reading your post. As an American woman on the cusp of marrying a balkan Croatian man I certainly found comfort, joy, and humor in reading your lovely affections of your husband.

I know all too well of the "drafts" and find comfort in knowing that I am not the only one threatened by death if I walk around barefoot on the cold floors or leave two windows open. With our disagreements and cultural differences I am afraid at times that we could never work in a marriage, after reading your post I am comforted. He is a wonderful man and the most stubborn I have ever met in my life. He is fruggle, vocal, and useless when it comes to dosmeticated projects.

Our roles in our relationship are very defined and it works perfectly that way. Macedonian men are far from perfect but if he loves you you'll know it for sure and to be honest that's what we are all looking for in the end… someone to love and love us back… everything else can be solved when you are prepared to compromise. I got one from Bulgaria. I suppose I was not so lucky.

Lazy, uninvolved, unemployed non committed father. Getting divorced after 10 years. I moved here to Bulgaria and ended up supporting him and the whole family after he decieded to quit his job. I am happy to hear that all Balkan men are not so bad.

I was getting worried! If you need his help you can contact him: [email protected]. Other countries censor content and not just rogue regimes such as the Iranian mullocracy. Poor people! Cool article, I am Macedonian too :P. Idk know about mariege to a forener since I am going to give my mother a hurt atack if I do it :D but I am dating american girl right now and she is Ok with the diffrent culture, she complains that I am too impulsive and hard headed some times, but yet again I always have the excuse of being warm blooded southener :D.

When we go to a Balkanian clubs she always comments on how exotic balkanian guys are since we have that meditareanian look. I only have two days left here in Skopje. Thank you in advance for your help!! Kindly, Mayra. You must be logged in to post a comment.

Log in to Reply. Bravo za mojata snaa. Me iznenadi mnogu, mnogu prijatno…. Dear Ruth, I am a Macedonian married to an Englishman, and your 6 reasons could have easily been written by my husband as the 6 reasons why he'd married a Macedonian woman: Literally, every single one of them his favourite probably being the deadly influence of the draught, since I will not have two bedroom windows open at the same time!!!!

Thanks for the lovely article and keep cooking if you want to maintain that marital bliss: Marija. Yes, we are Men. I enjoyed reading your text. Have fun tonight you two. Yep … everything U said it's true ….

I love the way you wrote this article! Too funny! Now if I could only get him to take 2 on your list a little more seriously…. I'm a macedonian, will marry a macedonian! I wish I have a good long marriage like yours. Have a nice day Ruth. Dear Hristina, Lovely to see you can speak your mother tongue you do, don't you? So check your history facts before bragging about something similar again. Thank you. Zdravo Ruth, Kazzi mu na Darko da sskrtne nekoj zbor navaka nakaj juzzna hemisfera.

Pozdrav Babuss. Hej, what about the other men from Balkans, like Serbians??? Dear Hristina, Think is absolutely brilliant you can speak even if not perfect Macedonian!!!

Hi Ruth, Thank you for presenting such a serious subject in a very humorous way. And that is simply NOT fair. Kisses, Jessie. There's a lot of available men and women in Belgrade who are open to adventure, relationship and hopefully marriage 2. Best time to visit is summertime when Belgrade is just amazing and the nightlife is simply fantastic, so even if you don't find a soul mate, you will have a blast 3. From Belgrade it's easy to visit all of the Balkans, so if you like taking road trips, you'll be on the place of destination within couple of hours I reccomend visiting the Pyramids of Bosnia-if you never heard of them, try google-ing them 5.

If feeling like a swim in salty waters of mediterenian sea, it's a half hour flight time to reach Montenegro and the guys there are all cm tall ; , really, not kidding and from Montenegro to reach Croatian seaside is aprox 1 hour drive depending on which town you're in Hope nobody misunderstands my intentions, they're really honest and I wish you all a good time and good luck Alex. Dear All! This means I'm a Balkan man with a difference : While I loved the accounts of cross-cultural joy experienced by a lot of you in your relationships, let me stress that us Balkan men are by no means easy and can hardly be generalised to be "all smiles und sunshine"… Balkans is the birthplace and stronghold of MACHISM and a lot of nice manly traits described by a lot of you can often be overshadowed and even overpowered by exactly that in many men from this part of the world.

To our credit, most Balkan men will subscribe to the following rule: — We don't fall in love very easily, but once we do, we love for life… Eg. A warm hello to everyone who partook in this forum!!! This warms my heart to read and the quote you gave couldn't be more true!

Sincerely, Dalibor from Macedonia. I am so glad I ran across this article! I am interested but… I am hoping for some insight on how men view their women in your culture. Thanks in advance! Hello Maria, we are glad that you found your way to our article and we hope that we won't be the only one to give you advice on this for you surely very complicated dilemma. I hope my advice was useful. Good luck with taking decisions. Kristina, mladiinfo. Search the best.

It was causing my muscles to seize up, and body to contort on stage, and making me lethargic and sore every hour of the day. My doctors and team of specialists had warned me for years of the detriment of my career to my health, but I pushed through anyways.

I always pushed through. I had to push through. This is what I love, music is where i found myself. But these 3 tears in my spine, plus a fourth that occurred the year prior, were signs that i was absolutely not able to scream anymore.

No longer able to scream most of our old material, or continue to scream on anything new, I cannot continue on. This has been the hardest thing that has happened in my life for a very long time, but thankfully the band, my family, and closest friends stand behind me and understand. They have all personally seen how much pain I have had to endure and especially the past 2 years as my spine was tearing apart but I kept going, I gave it my all, and cannot express this enough. I will be here in Costa Rica, where I have now moved, continuing to heal, rest, and write.

Major advances have been made in the technique and instrumentation. Surgeons use surgical microscopes that can magnify up to 25x and apply six to eight stitches that are finer than human hair to reconnect the vas deferens.

Your health care provider will consider several factors to determine if tubal ligation reversal is likely to be successful, such as:. The success of a tubal ligation reversal procedure depends on a variety of factors.

It's more likely to be successful if you still have a large portion of healthy fallopian tube remaining. Tubal ligation reversal is more likely to be successful if your tubal ligation was originally done using clips or rings, rather than if segments of your fallopian tubes were burned in order to close them off electrocautery. Some types of sterilization, such as the Essure or Adiana systems, aren't considered reversible.

During a tubal ligation reversal, your doctor may use robotic or laparoscopic surgical equipment — small tubes attached to tiny cameras and surgical instruments — to make a tiny incision on your abdomen, and reattach your fallopian tubes. Alternatively, your doctor may make a small incision in your abdomen minilaparotomy and expose your uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries. The doctor will then:.

Your doctor may not be able to reattach one or both of your fallopian tubes if too much was removed during the tubal ligation. You can slowly resume your normal activities as you begin to feel better, which usually takes one or two weeks.

Your stitches will dissolve and won't require removal. Success rates after a tubal ligation reversal can vary widely, depending on factors such as maternal age and the type of tubal ligation procedure that was initially done.
