I've honestly thought about it too, I sometimes let my protein shakes sit if I add yogurt and oats. Good question. Actually there is some truth to this. Amino acids can dissociate if left in water too long; they're acids after all. As far as protein, creatine and other pre workout ingredients, I'm really not too sure and can't comment. I always mix, chug and hit the iron.
And I guess creatine would now that I'm thinking about it too. It's also an acid. Only strong acids dissociate completely, and these aren't, so I'd assume its negligible? Maybe EK can chime in? LOL damn you guys and this thread!
Making me think of chemistry shtuff I thought I was done with. I could look up their pKa values and actually figure out how much they would dissociate in water, but can't at the moment. I'll work on this tomorrow hahaha.
Gahhh ya know I'm really not sure how the body would break down and utilize the amino acids and such. And whether or not leaving them in water would "compromise" them. Interesting topic lol. I'm gonna look into this tomorrow. Talking about Dissociation regarding cooking of proteins. Specifically whey, and that it had no negative effects on how the body absorbs it.
