Why wrath of god

Surrounded by a hundred thousand other tourists, the weight of eternity felt palpable. I confess, my concern has diminished. Salvation can be described as coming from God, by God, and to God. Salvation is from God, by God, and to God.

He had the sort of life people portray on Instagram. But knowing Jesus—the real Jesus—also makes life harder. After A. I want them to think first of my love, and God wants us to think first of His love. He told Adam the day you eat from that tree you will surely die. When God judges sin or responds in wrath to sin he is doing so to uphold the principles or laws he has established.

Without them, instead of any semblance of order we would have chaos. Because of his principles, God honors his promises.

His principles are why he responds when we put our trust in Jesus for salvation. His principles are why we experience grace, mercy, favor, and answers to prayer. Yet it is also the same reason a person can potentially experience his wrath. He is just, loving, and fair. From the exact same throne flows the love of God and the justice of God. We get to decide which one we will experience. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves.

When Jesus saw the abuses that were happening in the temple, he got angry. The people were being taken advantage of and the money changers had turned the house of God into a place of business. Greed and profit were the sole motivation of the day.

His anger was justified and warranted a response. These are proper triggers to anger and are often referred to as righteous anger. Anger that results because people are mistreated.

Anger that happens because the most vulnerable are harmed. Anger that arises when those who are defenseless or weak get run over or stepped on by those more powerful are all examples of righteous anger.

However, as right you are to be angry, it does not give you a license to sin. Lighthouse Radio Network, Inc. Christian Broadcasting System, Ltd.

No, He was the same God who had walked with Adam and Eve in the cool of the evening in a most intimate way. It was we who had changed. We had lost the holiness without which no one can see the Lord Heb The same God, unchanged though He was, now seemed frightening and wrathful.

What, then, shall we do? If God is a holy fire, a consuming fire cf Heb ; Is , how can we possibly come into His presence? How can we avoid the wrath that would destroy us? Well, what is the only thing that survives in the presence of fire? He sent tongues of fire upon the apostles and upon us at our Confirmation. God wants to set us on fire with the Holy Spirit in holiness. He wants to bring us up to the temperature of glory so that we can stand in His presence.

See, I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come, says the LORD Almighty. But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears?

He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Indeed, Jesus has now come: For you have turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath 1 Thess I will not claim that there is no wrath in God.

What exactly it is and how He experiences it is a mystery to us. We can say to some extent what it is not, but we cannot really say what it is exactly. A far richer point to meditate is that the wrath of God is essentially in us. It is our experience of the incompatibility of sin before God. We must be washed clean in the Blood of the Lamb and purified. Most of us will need purification in Purgatory, too. God is love, but He will not change; His love must change us.
